About the project
This bilingual zine is a conceptual reinterpretation of Beatrice Warde’s essay The Crystal Goblet, entering into a visual and intellectual dialogue with her ideas. While Warde argued that typography should remain transparent and unobtrusive, the publication deliberately disrupts this notion by combining subtle text with bold typographic interventions.
Inspired by the DIY zine tradition, the project imagines an alternative reality in which Warde’s manifesto is self-published and widely circulated. Printed entirely on a home printer, the zine emphasizes accessibility and materiality, treating print both as a medium and a statement. The result is not only a typographic experiment, but also a visual manifesto that honors Warde’s legacy while critically reexamining conventional approaches to typography – inviting readers to experience text as both visual and conceptual form.
